27/06/2021 My 70th Birthday Speech Hi everyone. Thank you for coming to my 70 th birthday. Before I start, I would like to thank my parents, who are no longer alive, but have helped me through life. I would also like to thank all my friends that are here. I have had many amazing experiences in my life, and I used to be sad when they were over. But I saw a quote that changed the way that I thought of things: “don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”, by Dr Seuss (quote) . That quote has changed my outlook on life, and I still go by it. When I was 13 years and 9 months old, in April 2021, I became the youngest person to climb Mt. Everest (proudest moment) . This was one of my proudest moments, and I still remember the feeling of being at the summit. But shortly after that, on my way down, I got hypothermia (health issue) , and had to get my little toe on my left foot amputated (health issue) , which were two of the major health issues I had.
